Francesco - I see your point. I think we (including the media hype machine) love it when we see a cool company succeed. We will it on, we want it to beat the goliath type company and shine.

Conversely we also don't like seeing a really successful company getting too big almost want it to fail. We get a hatred that someone or an entity is just making huge amounts of money. So it is easy to pick holes in.

I agree with in some respects with Delbert a company like Apple should not have brought out a phone with pretty obvious fundemental floor. It should have thoroughly tested the phone before release.

But is it really that big a deal in practice?

Surely the test will be in the sales of the handset. I have heard in the UK that out of the 4 operators who supply the iPhone 4 the returns are as per the 3GS, and no blips. Sales are great. Apple are beating other mobile manufacturers with ease. The operators cannot get enough stock. Does that show the Joe public is bothered by the antenna problem. I don't think so.

In practice I rarely hit a problem (although I am a right hander) I have made calls in the left hand, and not had a dropped call. The phone functions perfectly when surfing, working with apps and making calls (main in the car using a bluetooth car kit).

Am I a Fanboi?
Hmmm, not really. I have no other Apple hardware apart from a 5G iPod. Would I like some Apple hardware? Yes I would love to have a Macbook Pro or an iMac for a design and look and ease of use. Can I justfiy the extra cost for an unknown uplift in performance. Not at this point. I currently also use Windows 7 so the gap in functionality is now much smaller between Win7 and OSX.

I will write back on the experience with the iPhone 4 over the coming months and would love to hear any experience you guys have had. Do you guys have iPads?
